Salut! Sunderland: The Way It Is

Jake introduces the made-for-purpose feature allowing you to have your say on topic or off

Here is the feature we introduced with the intention of getting readers talking.

Salut! Sunderland: the way it is is essentially your forum, a place to let off steam, make a point or raise an issue none of the site’s contributors has got round to writing about. It removes the need to wait for Sixer, Monsieur Salut, John Mac, Ken Gambles, Malcolm Dawson, Jeremy Robson or any of the the others to catch up on the news. We haven’t the resources to be any quicker.

So it is the place to comment on some topical event you may have heard about but not yet seen reported or analysed at Salut! Sunderland, a match we haven’t got round to recording the result of .. or indeed anything else, Sunderland or football generally related, on your mind.

In other words, it’s a chance to air your thoughts on as wide a variety of subjects as you wish without wondering whether the comment fits the posting.

There will still be the usual opportunity to comment at postings on specific topics. But Salut! Sunderland: the way it is will usually be kept at the top of the home page – https://safc.blog – so that it is one of the first things you see on arriving at the site by that route.

If The Way It Is seems to have disappeared, that is likely to be because something important has happened or is about to happen and the feature temporarily gets in the way. It will always be restored to the top of the home page once the excitement passes.

Every so often, the deputy editor Malcolm Dawson – who possesses the tidy mind the editor lacks – will purge the comments, once their relevance diminishes, so that they are not allowed to grow so long as to drown new posts from readers. (2nd Feb – have done just that so the feature needs new topics. MD)

  1. One tiny way to improve behaviour at football grounds would be to do away with the manager/coach ” technical area “.

The example set by some of these idiots does absolutely nothing to encourage fans [ or players ] to behave better.

Apart from the obvious extreme examples [ Pardew trying to head butt David Meyler ] there are instances almost every week of managers acting like total clowns, often on camera, providing the wrong sort of headline [ the spat between our own resident idiot with fathead a week or so back comes to mind ]

During 60 years of playing and watching football, I cannot recall a single instance where the histrionics of these buffoons has had the slightest bearing on the outcome of a game.

Make them watch from the stands [ or sit with the subs ]

  2. GOOD GOD. It’s 1-1 at HT at home to Warbury and Wesley has been sent off. No case of mistaken identity this time I’m afraid. Nothing changes. (See The Sun today).

  3. Just read the Bradford broadside from Sixer.
Salut needs to start a Pete must stay campaign.
It’s Wednesday morning, 3 days after the event. Getting excited about a 480 mile round trip in another 3 day’s time. Can anybody help me?

    • When I lived near Leicester and faced a 360 mile round trip for a home game Howard Wilkinson did it for me. I still had a season ticket mind but I lost the feeling of excitement!
