Sixer’s Sevens: Defoe’s treble sinks 10-man Swansea

Malcolm Dawson writes…the half time text from Pete Sixsmith read “yet another embarrassing and inept first half.” No sooner had I finished reading it and just as Gary Bennett was admitting his frustration at the way things were going, PvA stuck one in. Goals early in both halves and a ten man Swansea side was surely cause for optimism even if the penalty and break away goal had resulted in another bout of irritation in our man at the match and the Sunderland legend. The commentary got more and more animated as an eventful match unfolded resulting in Pete’s final seven word summary.

  1. Surprised you heard Benno at all Malcolm. Bloody SAFCSee continually breaking down and then informing me that there was no broadcast available, piggin’ useless. I don’t know why I pay for it – oh it’s free now!!

    • I get Radio Newcastle on FM and medium wave and also through the TV on Freeview Eric so I’m not reliant on the interweb. All the non league games were off tonight so I had little option but to stay in and listen.

      • The last time the service went down, for one of the games towards the end of the year, I couldn’t get it even via the BBC site. No proper explanation was given, though it may have been later for all I know. Last night I was able to get a stream, one mentioned in the usual matchday Links thread at Ready to Go and it not only worked quite well, with very few frozen images, but was a couple of seconds ahead of Barnes and Benno, to whom I also listened for part of the first half until the gap became too irritating. I never mind those occasions when I am reduced to listening as the pair of them do it so well.

      • I’m more than happy to listen to Barnes & Benno (when the bloody thing works). I think the reason it is now free is that someone realised that the service being provided was not consistent enough to warrant the subscription. After all, if it’s free you can’t really complain about it. Regarding streams, I’m very reluctant to go to some of these dodgier websites. I seem to be regressing back into my youth as far as the radio goes and really enjoy listening if not on telly. The FA Cup draw seems so much better through t’ wireless.

  2. Best result of the season so far. I feel we are on the road to survival. Stuff Harry Redknapp who has us pegged for relegation. Sam Allardyce has managed 2 amazing away wins.

I am fully in support of Allardyce for the 3 or 4 years to rebuild this team.

He seems to be the most suitable manager we have had since Stokoe in 73. Although I do forget (momentarily) that Peter Reid did brilliant.

Things are starting to look as if a Revival will happen. Cue Irish Christian Singer Robin Mark = Revival. Listen on YouTube, and it will inspire you, our fans need Reviving.

    • Malcolm I love you! Jermain I love you! SAFC I love you! Linesman I love you! What the world needs now, is love sweet love……
