Clips to welcome the new Black Cats

This is Stephane Sessegnon – the goals and the dribbles in the most-viewed YouTube clip of him.

He’s ours.

And this is Sulley Muntari, our latest Ghanaian signing.

He’s also ours, for now, on loan from inter Milan. The clip shows only a tap-in but the Crabtree-esque commentary sounds priceless even if you don’t understand the lingo.

This is an edited version of what Sessegnon, 26, signed for £6m on a three-and-a-half year deal from Paris Saint-Germain, had to tell the official club site:

“I am very happy to be here. I can’t wait to start in the Premier League. It has been my dream for years. The Premier League is the best league to play in.

… Sunderland was the place I wanted to be even though there were other teams interested. As soon as I arrived I could feel that Sunderland is a big club with a big family spirit. I could also feel that the people live for football here, and the spirit of family is something very important to African players.

… The team has a good dynamic. The league is tough but Sunderland are having a good season. There are big games coming like Chelsea and we need to have a big match there. Then we can look to Europe.”

And (also speaking to safc.com) Muntari, who links up with his Ghanaian buddies Asamoah Gyan and John Mensah, said:

“It feels great to be at Sunderland and to be back in English football. I’m very happy and from what I’ve seen here it’s going to be great.

… Everything here is amazing. The facilities and atmosphere are excellent. I only came a couple of days already but the atmosphere is great.

Last season was good for me, winning some trophies with Inter. We made history but now I’m here with Sunderland and doing well for the club is the uppermost thing in my mind.

I will just try to do my best to help Sunderland go further because they are doing well. I hope I can help the club go to Europe.

I have already met some of the guys, like Anton [Ferdinand] and [Kieran] Richardson. They are all down to earth and that is why we are doing well this season.”

Salut! Sunderland can’t wait to see the pair of them in action and extends a hearty welcome to both.

Monsieur Salut
