It seems odd, rather too soon and unnecessary to be naming players as best of the season.
With four immensely important games to go, and survival at stake, I’d say we should also avoid Villains of the Season awards.
There’s a big but …..
Vito Mannone and Fabio Borini absolutely deserve recognition for their services to Sunderland AFC.
And this is how the SAFC official site put it:
VITO MANNONE was tonight crowned Sunderland Player of the Year.
The goalkeeper became the second successive keeper to lift the Sunderland Supporters’ Player of the Year accolade, succeeding 2013 winner Simon Mignolet.
Fellow Italian Fabio Borini was crowned Young Player of the Year.

Mine? Mannone seemed a strange acquisition, and I was worried about the loss of Simon Mignolet. But he has proved a tremendous buy. Distribution better than Mignolet’s, especially when under pressure, saves almost as good. The Mannone chant appeared early in a sorry season and that tells its own story.
Borini has, unquestionably, been a great asset. He hardly ever stopped telling us he wasn’t really ours, thought himself a Liverpool player etc. I’d be amazed if he stayed even if we stay up, not least because he has been so good for us that others are inevitably looking.
But I will never forget his goals for us or his astonishing workrate. He has done his duty many times over.
Bravo Vito, Bravo Fabio.

Yes both have done us proud,but you’d have to give it to Mannone.He has kept us in many a game and probably earned us more points,plus he is our own player,we cannot give it to an on loan player.
