Salut! Sunderland’s collaboration with Campo Retro got off to a tricky start when we omitted the “o” from Campo, suggesting – as they put it themselves – that they might be assumed to be aiming for a slightly different market.
But this is an inclusive website. Camp or non-camp, you are warmly invited to enter the jolly little competition inspired by the revival that has taken us to Wembley and – gloat all you want at Thrashing Newcastle at the 03, where you’ll find postings about what The Guardian calls our “drubbing” of Toon – put points on the board.
First, you have to be able to answer this toughie of a question. Who scored the first of Sunderland’s goals in the 1998 playoff final against Charlton Athletic? If you think that’s easy, bear in mind that Campo Retro suggested asking for the name of the 1973 FA Cup Final scorer.
But the point is to get as many correct answers as possible, from which the winner of a retro Sunderland top, with any name and number on the back, will be chosen at random. Lots have already sent in answers. Add yours in an email to competitions@camposports.com..
Sunderland’s fan base is worldwide but there is no geographical barrier to eligibility. Campo Retro will stump up for the postage wherever the winner lives.
It’s as simple as that. The competition closes at midnight on February 14 2014, the eve of the FA Cup 5th round versus Southampton (as timings stand) and the winner will be announced soon after. He or she will then receive an e-mail from Campo Retro for information on shirt size, personalisation and delivery address.
