England tonight. But can anyone topple the USA as our second team?

Just a reminder
that voting is still open for the Salut! Sunderland honorary second team at the World Cup.

I have no idea whether my IT skills will be up to snipping away Spain, Cameroon and the other eliminated group-stage countries. But the poll is an evolving exercise: you can vote for any team that remains though you are theoretically supposed to vote only once (since it’s only for fun, it hardly matters if you find a way round that).

So the cry from here is still England for the Cup. We’ll know later on whether we look like making it through to the knockout stage.

Uruguay are currently still in second place, behind the USA, for second team status but would become an eligible contender only if England, from the same group, were eliminated. Belgium are snapping at their heeels but both are a long way behind the USA.

Here’s how it looks up to now Click on Vote to make your voice heard, and View to see how polling has gone so far.

  1. I reckon Keir Bradwell’s assessment of Chile was spot on

After last night how many of you will be joining him and myself in voting for Chile?

    Hasta la vista!
