Rob Hutchison: one-word verdicts
Rob Hutchison: one-word verdicts

There may be no Soapbox report of the Manchester City match. Pete Sixsmith’s internet has been playing up and Salut! Sunderland‘s deputy editor, Malcolm Dawson, is sorting out car problems. Malcolm was encouraged by what he saw but feels there is too much to do in the remainong 14 games to ward off the threat of relegation.

Meanwhile Rob Hutchison, our master of the one-word, one-score ratings, is purring in defeat. ‘Best performance of the season with no cigar,’ he says. ‘New signings look just the part. With that XI we’ll be fine wherever we are next season’ …

Vito 6 safe

Jones 5 quiet

JOS 7 leader

Kone 8 beast

Pva 7 sharp

Kirchhoff 9
tremendous

Catts 6 patchy

Lens 6 frustrating

Borini 6 workaholic

M’Vila 7 improved

Defoe 7 unfortunate

Substitutes:

Khazri 7 prospect

Johnson 5 impactless

N’doye 5 insufficient

And finally …

Big Sam 8 tactician

  1. If anyone’s interested my ignition keeps cutting out. The garage said I could have a courtesy car but when they went to fetch it the same thing happened to that one. Both cars less than a year old. Hopefully fixed tomorrow.
