After Tuesday’s disappointment, today’s response against a side that hadn’t dropped a home point all season, has Martin O’Neill singing the praises of his team. Whilst ultimately this may be viewed as two points dropped, rather than one won, once again we have seen the manager’s ability to use the available players to achieve a positive result. To the rest of the world who expected the lads in red and white to be on the wrong end of a battering today, the manager’s words reflect his aspirations and send out a message to the rest of the Premier League.
Dear Colin,
We absolutely deserved to win that game – we were fantastic up until about the 84th minute.
The team were blindingly good. We looked comfortable at 3-1 although we tired a little.
This feels like a defeat because we were so good all day. We played some great football and scored some great goals.
The performance was excellent considering that we were playing against a team who are going for the championship.
We got the ball down and played and it was really heartbreaking to lose those goals.
It should have been all three points, but that shouldn’t take away from the performance of the team.
The goals were excellent – we played some great stuff and we had two or three opportunities before we scored the first goal.
We showed the confidence to go and play. Overall, it was a brilliant performance today.

Gutted at that result though a great performance by the lads. MON hides the disappointmnet well,to the point of not even mentioning it.He seems to have a definate philosophy of always saying something positive and leaving the negative unsaid.
Watched the game on Sky last night,did anyone see Mancini’s apparent reaction to Larssons 2nd goal.I don’t know if it was the editing but it looked like he was mighty impressed by the goal and was nodding his head sagely at what must have appeared to be the end of his Chamionpship title dreams…or maybe I was mistaken.
