SAFC vs Cardiff City Guess the Score: who thought this would be a bottom-top clash?

Jake introduces Guess the Score

Monsieur Salut writes: sincere apologies if you tried to come here last night and could see only a message saying the database could not be reached. Our contract is with GoDaddy – as I was reminded yesterday when the bill for another two years landed with a painful thud yesterday – and proudly announced this morning that maintenance work had been carried out. If this was the cause of the unannounced interruption in our service, they’ll be on the receiving end of a choice rebuke later on (update: it probably was, but GoDaddy says WordPress does the work and therefore causes the disruption  …

Still no win at home
this year (and still no mugs for the winners of previous Guess the Score competitions). I am working on the latter and can but hope Mr Grayson has a viable plan to correct the former.

As things stand, Cardidd fans have every right to be licking their lips at the distinct prospect of yet another smash-and-grab job for visitors to the Stadium of Light. OK, it is not quite bottom vs top but we start just one place above the drop zone whereas City are up there on the same points as the leaders, Leeds and Wolves.

We can all live with a predictable exit from the league cup, even if our opponents, Everton, have been seriously underachieving in the Premier League. Many of us find the failure to pick up league points, especially at home, unpardonable. Read our associate editor John McCormick excellent report at this link.

Patrick van Aanholt’s winner against Watford in December 2016 not only seems but was a long time ago. Can the class of ’17 emulate that result, itself a win to be filed under gritty rather than sparkling? We shall see and you can guess the score in hopes of joining the queue of mugless winners.

Here is a sneak preview of what our Cardiff City “Who are You?” interviewee has to say:

Mike Morris, editor of http://www.cardiffcity-mad.co.uk: as an eternal pessimist my gut feeling is that we will be come the first side not to get a result at the SoL this year. But my head says that we should be good enough not to lose the game …. I know you haven’t won at home since forever. I fear that record will change this weekend but my heart still says it will a 2 – 1 Cardiff win.

Usual rules: be first, be right and – whoever you support – you’ll eventually receive a prize mug, though you must have a UK delivery address. Mike’s prediction is the first entry.

Ha’way the Lads.

  1. The eternal optimist again need the win much changed side from wed we will need to score at least 2 to win with a couple of early goals it will end 4-0 to the lads

    • Mike wins and,as you might expect, had a good day out: “Sorry, not gloating (much) but I did get score right. It’s a shame to see such a big club with a half empty ground and a lack of confidence. After you scored the crowd rallied a bit but there wasn’t much heart there.”
