Consider this a last piece of housekeeping, says Monsieur Salut, before I depart for the Far East (holiday in what I still calls Burma, not to sign up as a goalie in China). It will remain at the top of the home page until my Salut! Sunderland colleagues get up with seeing it there.

The 10th birthday competition invited readers to share their thoughts on any Sunderland-related topic with 10 years being the theme. It is still open to new entries.

See what others have already posted and you’ll get the idea. You can post contributions here but get an idea of what we have in mind by taking a look at https://safc.blog/2017/01/a-thank-you-from-salut-sunderland-10-years-old-this-week/.

The prize is from our friends at Tales of Red & Whites, publishers of a series of books on SAFC. They have kindly agreed to offer the winner a miniature version of Nick Barnes’ Matchbook, described as the BBC commentator’s “beautifully crafted match notes for season 2015/16 in a unique box set design”.

With the help of any Salut! Sunderland colleagues who can be spurred into action, I will make a decision at the beginning of March end of February. So you have until then – say midnight UK time on Feb 28 to have a go.

To recap:

This site was launched in January 2007 as Roy Keane led a remarkable bottom-to-top charge to promotion. We have been in the Premier League ever since though our status is once again under severe threat.

So your postings should cover anything that strikes you as worth commenting on about that period, whether memories and anecdotes, your impressions of what this site does well and what it does not and your hopes for the next 10 years.

Ha’way the Lads.
