Take away my whinge (I have never hacked a phone, bribed a cop or blagged someone’s bank statement, and deplore such practices, but am weary of the current overkill in a society that cannot always bring dangerous villains to justice). And then you’re left with one way of summing up Salut! Sunderland‘s week, once we’d got over the 4-0 hammering at WBA.

The best of the rest was the busy night of international for several of our players. Fraizer Campbell and James McClean both made their debuts, for England and the Republic of Ireland respectively, after 79 minutes on their benches, Campbell learning later that this was also the moment young Isla Rose, his first baby, was born.

Ha’way the Lads, and specifically not Howay the Lads, in the game rightly described by Chris Makin as tomorrow’s “great fixture”.
