Sixer’s Sevens. Barnsley show us what the Championship’s all about.

Jake: ‘it won’t always be pretty’

For the first time in ages – especially away – we had more possession than our opponents, yet we were hammered. There has to be a message in that, for our players, for our manager and, above all, for our owner.

But it’s still early days yet and perhaps the next week will see changes.  Paul Summerside, over on our facebook page, doesn’t think we’ll get new players but, according to Pete Sixsmith’s seven word summary, drastic action is needed, and quickly.

August 26 Barnsley 3 (2) Sunderland 0 (0) Alarm bells clanging after a dreadful performance

August 22 League Cup: Carlisle United (0) 1 Sunderland (1) 2 Classy finish by Gooch masks scrappy performance

August 19 SAFC 0 (0) Leeds United 2 (1) Weaknesses exposed by a solid Leeds team

August 16 Sheffield Wednesday (0) 1 Sunderland (1) 1 Looked tired in second half. Decent point

August 13 Norwich City 1 (0) Sunderland 3 (1) Very well organised and three cracking goals

August 8 League Cup: Bury 0 (0) Sunderland (0) 1 Hardly convincing but a win’s a win

August 4 2017 Sunderland (1) 1 Derby County (1) 1 Encouraging second half. Something to build on

  1. N’Dong tried, Kone was incompetent, Khazri shouldn’t have been anywhere near the pitch (cheers Grayson), but to be honest every other player was as culpable. Cattermole, Vaughan, Grabban, McGeady, et al completely and utterly bereft of any kind of ideas, tactical structure or professionalism. These performances only lead to one thing.

  2. If 15 or 20 million only buys a Kone, Khazri or a Dong then the world has truly gone mad. Good riddance, hopefully, to all 3.

  3. This was a game that I thought would define the rest of our season . Win it ,or be unlucky to only draw and we’d have a chance, never in my worst imagination did I think we’d be humiliated. We’ll be in a relegation battle at this rate .
