Sixer’s Sevens. Bristol City smash and grab as a cold wind blows

Jake: ‘it’s not always pretty’

John McCormick writes: half an hour in and my hopes of a mug were dashed. And though we continued our scoring run and equalised we also continued our home hoodoo and lost to a second-half goal.

Will that cost our manager his job? Pete Sixsmith’s seven word text, straight on the final whistle, suggests it should.

October 28 Sunderland 1 (1) Bristol City 2 (1)  Hopeless and clueless. Add embarrassing to that.

Jake’s take – Simon says “Please direct me to the nearest job centre”

October 21 Brentford 3 (1) Sunderland 3 (3) * Two in front yet lucky to survive

October 14 Sunderland (0) 1 Queens Park Rangers (1) 1 The elusive home win seems miles away

September 30 Preston North End (0) 2Sunderland (1) 2 * Seriously entertaining and well worth the point

September 26 Ipswich Town 5 (2) Sunderland (1) 2 Sunderland’s defending plummets to unheard of depths

September 23 Sunderland 1 (0) Cardiff City 2 (1) Undoubtedly the worst Sunderland team I’ve watched

September 20 League Cup 3rd Round: Everton (1) 3 Sunderland (0) 0 * Never looked like scoring, let alone winning

September 16 Hull City 1 (0) Sunderland 1 (1) Hung on but not a sparkling performance

September 12 Sunderland 0 (0) Nottingham Forest 1 (o) Some improvement but we lack any punch

September 9 Sunderland 1 (0) Sheffield United 2 (1) no tactics, appalling team selection,
total embarrassment

August 26 Barnsley 3 (2) Sunderland 0 (0) Alarm bells clanging after a dreadful performance

August 22 League Cup: Carlisle United (0) 1 Sunderland (1) 2 Classy finish by Gooch masks scrappy performance

August 19 SAFC 0 (0) Leeds United 2 (1) Weaknesses exposed by a solid Leeds team

August 16 Sheffield Wednesday (0) 1 Sunderland (1) 1 Looked tired in second half. Decent point

August 13 Norwich City 1 (0) Sunderland 3 (1) Very well organised and three cracking goals

August 8 League Cup: Bury 0 (0) Sunderland (0) 1 Hardly convincing but a win’s a win

August 4 2017 Sunderland (1) 1 Derby County (1) 1 Encouraging second half. Something to build on

  1. The situation is perilous granted. But it is just adding to a downward spiral when everyone is so downbeat and defeatist. Down, down, down> How do you break the cycle?

    • ‘Down beat and defeatist’………Steve, have you looked at the table, our results this season, the gap in points between us and survival?

Yes we are downbeat, who wouldn’t be with our results and form this season. We have an underperforming team, manager and board with no possibility of any improvement any time soon. We are praying for the January transfer window in October FFS!

Perilous…….this is an unmitigated disaster and one that will get worse before it has any chance of getting better.

The downward spiral comes from the Board, the Manager and the Players, not the Fans, otherwise no one would turn up to games or bother posting on web sites. We do it because we still care but somebody has to send out the message that we are far from happy and try to shame our owner in to taking positive action to stop this slide.

Cash is King and we desperately need reinforcements and change in both the playing staff and backroom staff to give us any hope of survival, can you see this happening?

    • We’re realists who have every reason to be downbeat and defeated ,because that’s what the useless bloody team , owner and manager have reduced us too.

  2. Worse than predicted, I had 2-2, if that was even possible…….where do we go from here.

    1. Sack Grayson……only in the hope of some messiah arriving on Wearside…….not likely

    2. Short…..hope someone with loads of spare cash comes in and buy’s him out and invests very heavily…….even less likely

    3. Keep our heads buried in the sand and hope all turns out for the best and if not we can’t change anything anyway……bloody hell it’s come to this……most likely outcome married to relegation and disappearance in to football obscurity…..currently most likely!!

  3. An absolute embarrassment, what’s the solution? Apart from a new owner and a new direction we’re stuck . Grayson is useless though.
