Sixer’s Sevens: Doncaster caught out by Sunderland

My first thought was “don’t concede early”. And we didn’t

Then I thought “get a good start”. And we did.

At 70 minutes I thought “Hang on for a clean sheet”. And we did

These were good points earned today, in a game we knew we had to win.

Pete Sixsmith (I think) will give his verdict tomorrow. Here’s his immediate post-game judgement, in seven sweet words:

19 April 2019 Sunderland 2 (2) Doncaster Rovers 0 (0) The manager gambled and it came off

13 April 2019 Sunderland 4 (3) Coventry City 5 (3) Incredible but for all the wrong reasons

1 thought on “Sixer’s Sevens: Doncaster caught out by Sunderland”

  1. Valid comment.

You have to give credit to the Manager having the guts to drop both centre backs and play the untested Ozturk with young Dunne. Especially in another crucial game.

But strangely it worked and we felt much more confident that the Donny fans wouldn’t have an excuse to bombard us with smoke bombs and bottles in the North stand!!

Joking aside, credit to the Donny fans who backed their team and added to a great atmosphere at the game today.
