Sunderland vs Brentford prize Guess the Score: a win for a win?

We have similar stripes. Only ours will be on show on Saturday. Will they prevail?

Wrinkly Pete has given up on his 3-3 predictions and 4-3 didn’t quite happen. Some guessed a Bristol City romp but no one had us down for a 3-3 draw, so no Guess the Score winner last Saturday.

We now turn our attentions to Brentford at home. And wouldn’t it be nice to award a prize to someone predicting a Sunderland win?

When the season started, many of us would have looked at this fixture and thought to ourselves “home banker”, even after the bitter disappointment of a meek acceptance of relegation in bottom place.

Now we’re the underdogs, Brentford enjoying a comfortable season while we languish in the bottom three.

Many readers of Salut! Sunderland have experienced enough as SAFC supporters to place little reliance on one goodish result, great in the context of the half-time scoreline, to spark any sort of run or broader revival. We long for the dream world of back-to-back wins: wouldn’t three against the three Bs, Brentford, Bolton and Boro, be rather nice?

Have your say. Have a go. If you are first to post a correct prediction and do so before kickoff, you will win a prize – whoever you support.

It could be a mug, a book or something else but it will relate to the club you follow. In other words, Brentford fans are welcome to enter and one already has (our Who are You? interviewee, whose thoughts will appear here on Thursday, reckons 2-1 to the Bees and his prediction automatically stands as the first valid entry). Any winner, however, must have a UK delivery address.

Ha’way the Lads, our Lads.

  1. The eternal optimist says someone has taken my usual 4-0 so I will go for a routine at 5-0 to the lads let’s give them a thrashing in a 4-4-2

  2. I hope we can build on the Bristol City result, but we have an uncanny knack of following a decent display with utter rubbish. However I’ll chance a nail biting 4-2 to SAFC.

  3. This is THE day it all comes together and me bonny lads finally, finally give someone a thrashing. Torn between 4 and 5 to us and naff all to the visitors. I’m going to say 4 – 0.

  4. As it says above, I was close and but for an amazing save it would have been that magic score – 4-3 to The Lads it has to be.

  5. Sunderland 3 – 1 Brentford……..has to start some time to avoid the drop and this is yet again another opportunity to build on our good fortune from last weekend!

  6. Sunderland must win this game. A ninety minute performance at the same level as the last half hour at Bristol City will deliver a result. 2-0 to Sunderland. The fans need to turn up and make it difficult for Brentford and not for Sunderland. The Sunderland fans are the absolute best when it counts.

  7. Sorry Lads, but 2-1 to Brentford. But then I support the Bees. Come back on Thursday and you’ll see what I make of both of our clubs in the Salut! Sunderland ‘Who are You?’ interview …

    • This is the score by which we were beaten at home by Bristol City earlier in the season. So – two 3-3 draws away … and you just might be right about this weekend’s game.
