Sunderland vs Kidderminster Harriers Guess the Score: let’s have some fun

I’d love to see Gus Poyet put out a winning team but I’d love even more for that winning team to be drawn heavily from players not always involved in Premier action.

We have Stoke City at home next Wednesday that that’s a game we must see as infinitely more important than the FA Cup 4th round at home to Kidderminster Harriers.

What is more, a team composed solely of players normally available for Kevin Ball’s development squad selections should, by rights, be good enough to dispose of a team from the Conference Premier, England’s fifth tier. Wouldn’t it be grand to see Duncan Watmore or Charis Mavrias knocking them in for fun?

And thanks to “CSB”, whose generous promise of a £30 donation to Water Aid won the charity mug auction inspired by Eric Bowers, the owner of a few mugs already.

Come back this way tonight or tomorrow for a nice read from the Kidderminster Harriers matchday announcer. Lovers of non-league football – Sixer and Malcolm Dawson, Salut!’s deputy editor included – will love it.

But if it’s more on Sunderland’s marvellous Old Trafford exploits you want to see, go directly to

The whole team rose to the occasion and made sure that whatever happened, the 9,000 travelling support would be proud of them. That the home team hung on was more due to our lack of a killer ball than their prowess at hanging on to a single goal lead.

A noble performance against Man City in the final is all Sunderland fans can realistically look for. But their team has proved four years running that this is a side they can beat, albeit only at home. That City off-day Poyet spoke of, or a sensational one for Bardsley, Mannone, Johnson & Co., could inspire another surprise.

  1. SAFC 4 – 0 Kidderminster

The joy continues with the treble firmly in our sights (League Cup, FA Cup and premiership survival).
