Phil Davison, a Mackem exiled in Mexico, plumped for a 3-0 home win mainly because so many scorelines had been taken by other entrants. Watching the opening stages on Saturday, live out west, he wondered whether he might have taken leave of his senses, as Hull dominated the game and had the better chances.
But that Defoe magic, along with Pickford heroics and clinical Anichebe finishing, vindicated his prediction.
Phil has chosen as his prize the “Giantkillers” print, with Bobby Kerr proudly hoisting the FA Cup trophy in 1973. Some of us were already adults and we’re talking 43 years ago.
Successive wins at Bournemouth and on Saturday were just what the doctor ordered. I am sure plenty of readers will act on impulse or unswerving faith and suggest we can and will keep the run going at Anfield.
It will be an altogether tougher task. We cannot expect high-flying Liverpool to be as wasteful as Bournemouth and Hull were.
Scouse reds are, of course, warmly welcomed to take part in the Guess the Score competition.
A Liverpool-supporting winner would not be expected to make do with the SAFC Class of ’73. Nor would he or she be asked to choose otherwise between Defoe’s glorious winner to make it five-in-a-row versus Newcastle …

In other words, Art of Football is happy for a Liverpudlian, by home or choice, to choose a print more appropriate to his or her preference.
It’s another massive game. Lose honourably and it’s not the end of the world. Take something from it and we’ll all be dreaming of lower midtable. Win and we’re in heaven.

I would love it, love it if we could surprise everyone (except those who have already predicted SAFC winning). However, second top vs second bottom can have only one realistic outcome. We will score but I expect Liverpool it to be LIVERPOOL 3 SUNDERLAND 1.
So close last week with my 3-3 draw. Only let down by Hull’s rubbish finishing, I see no such problem with Liverpool’s strikers so this time I will win the prize! 3-3 draw.

Wow – another win for me but, unfortunately, not for the lads.
I was in a very strange position watching live here in Mexico. In the 91st minute, with Liverpool one-nil up and having been awarded a penalty, did I want them to score it?
A valiant defensive display against a fine Liverpool team won’t have dented the lads’ confidence.
