It’s a little like a game in itself. Paul Summerside puts a longish post on the Salut! Sunderland pages at Facebook, knowing I’ll often enough bite and republish it here. And my old pal Barry Emmerson chips in, too. If I didn’t have this distraction from writing about Islam in France or political turmoil in Lebanon, I’d probably go mad. Both comments were in response to mention of this week’s Guess the Score …
Paul:
A lot will depend on Moyes opinion on football in general.
Will he finally give in to those who watch football week in week out, but apparently know very little about it, the supporters?
Will he please scrap this 4-3-3 which simply does not work with the personnel we have?
Will he put Rodwell in the only position he can play, a footballing centre half, and flank him with Kone and O’Shea?
Will he realise our full backs are wing backs and get the best out of them in a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation?
Will he not tinker with the team at key times during the game, especially when were on top?
Will he scrap this zonal marking rubbish, last seen at Sunderland under Poyet and Wilkinson?
Will he above all, please try and induce a bit of positivity into our suffering players and supporters?
Belief = Confidence = Performance.
Performance = Confidence = Belief. A self feeding circle.
If all of the above happen I see 3-1 Sunderland.
If not then it could be a long hard afternoon.

A long trip ahead for the best of Sunderland supporters on Saturday. We will win 2 1 and we are on our way.
However I’ve just remembered that we have possibly the worst right back in England in Jones and that Rodwell has never played on a winning side in 30 odd games and the two centre halves don’t know how to attack the ball from crosses and corners and van Aanholt can’t defend and Watmore can’t control a football and we don’t have a schemer capable of setting up Defoe and we are missing half a team through injuries.
Did I say we would win? Sorry I’m off to Cherry Knowle – I’ve forgotten my tablets …

Defensively we are unable to deal with a high cross, neither centre back can head a ball. Kone appeared to be able to last season, what happened. The number of headed goals we have conceded this season points to this problem be we are not dealing with thd problem. We get hit on the break too easily, but continue to play the same formation. We have pace but don’t use it in the right places. Has Moyes analysed last season and the good things that were developed or did he just tear out the page and throw it away. Why have we gone so far backwards? There answers to all these problems but Moyes has a one dimensional and inflexible approach to football. We have glaring problems and someone needs to think their way through them, is Moyes that man. Why can’t he see what everyone else can?
