WBA vs Sunderland ‘Guess the Score’: but first, bravo Durham CCC

First and foremost: mighty congratulations to Durham County Cricket Club on their fantastic LV Championship title, secured with an eight-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire at the Riverside ground. Bravo, Lads. And now onto more mundane matters …

For the first match weekend in many months, Monsieur Salut will be unable to keep closer in touch with events at the Hawthorns than text messages from Pete Sixsmith. The big return from France to the UK looms and there’s time for one last weekend break, in Annecy.

In my absence, which begins first thing tomorrow (Friday), have a go at guessing the score. Anything starting 0- would be particularly welcome, provided it turns out to be true. I want none of those Eric predictions of defeat to be borne out by the course of play in what is already being seen as a relegation six-pointer, at West Brom.

In a nutshell, we need our players to shine and theirs, notably Sess, to under-perform.

Just for fun this week. There’s a need to award beer money to contributors, starting wiht Sixer and Jake. So the coffers are empty and there is no prize, But try anyway, whoever you support, to predict the outcome of Saturday’s big game.

And in the meantime, here’s a sample of the West Bromwich Albion “Who are You?”:

Q: Do you have any thoughts on Sunderland – the club, the fans, the city, the region?

A: Sunderland are personally my favourite of the three North East clubs. Love the passion and the away following you have is excellent. You always seem to take a big following wherever you go regardless of form. Your recent history is similar to ours and I think we are both generally down-to-earth and easy going when compared to our rivals.

Someone at the wbaunofficial fan site retorted: “Hartlepool will be fuming.” See the full interview at this link.

  1. ….Quizball….now that was something we were really crap at…

Hope we don’t resort to Route 1 too much tomorrow.

  2. Last week’s inspirational result is from Tranmere v Brentford. So it’s a 3 – 4 away win.

    And it’s Dave Clark 5 – Temperance 7.

  3. The Tremeloes are not hippy enough for me, Jake. Starting to get into a bit of The Herd and Simon Dupree and The Big Sound. Wowser, man!!!

  4. Throstles 0 Rokerites 1 with Bruce Stuckey sliding the ball past John “Quizball” Osborne. Can’t wait to get the new Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky Mick and Titch LP from Brothertons.

  5. WBA 1 – Sunderland 4

A rare away win sees the Black Cats romp to victory. Fletch (2) Altidore (1) Giaccherini (1). The performance v Arsenal second half and with the potential in the team, I feel we are about to give someone a right hiding.

  6. It’s 2-0 to the county town of the reigning LV CCC. Gardner to sort out Sess within the first minute or so (fairly or unfairly, who cares).

  7. I thought three NE sides included The Pools. Darlo were missed out and as we all know Boro are a Yorkshire side. Suspect the Baggie meant no offence to neither Darlo nor the Pools.
