Welcome to Sunderland, Max Power

We could have done with another striker in, and few obvious suspects out, and can only hope loan deals are in the pipeline for such movement.

For now, Salut! Sunderland welcomes the 12th signing off the summer, Max Power on loan from Wigan until January with a view to sealing a permanent transfer in the new year.

This, trimmed a little, is how safc.com announced the deal:

‘The midfielder has made over 140 appearances for Wigan during a three-year spell, during which he helped the Latics win two Sky Bet League One titles.

Jack Ross said: ‘We wanted another midfielder in the squad and we wanted one who was a little bit different to what we already have. Max gives us a little bit more of a presence physically – box to box – and gives us more balance within the squad. He’s got very recent experience when it comes to winning and being successful in this league and knows what it takes to get out of it.’

And if Max can score goals like this for us ….

  1. Malcolm – I agree about Fletcher. He was beginning to look the part at the end of last season. He looked to me a very useful target player – something we have lacked in recent years [ since Quinn ]

On another note, surely Max Power has to be the best name in football?

  2. With another few weeks left in Europe before their window closes there is still hope some club will be daft enough to pay us some decent dosh for our two mispers.

Still think we might consider seeing if Fletcher is up for another loan move from the Boro (especially if the reported James Wilson deal doesn’t materialise) as he did show some potential towards the end of last season even if he didn’t set the world alight.
