From The Guardian 17/09/08…..

Reports that Mike Ashley feels he may be assaulted by angry Toon fans have not gone down well in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where he has been trying to offload the crisis stricken club. Supporters’ groups have stressed that all protests must be non-violent. Many fans have been insulted by the idea that Ashley or his children would be harmed if they visited the ground. Frank Gilmour of the Newcastle United Independent Supporters’ Association said yesterday: “I don’t this it’s fair to say the fans would behave in that way.”

From The Northern Echo 17/09/08…..

A man who is the double of Mike Ashley was attacked in a pub after being mistaken for the hated Newcastle United owner. Season ticket holder Alan McKenna was enjoying a drink in the Chicago Rock Cafe in Chester le Street when a man who thought he was Ashley took a swing at him..
