What a bizarre season this turning out to be. From the excitement of the summer, to Paolo Di Canio being found out quicker than we all could ever imagine, to potential cup double success! Well, maybe I’m getting a touch carried away with regards to the latter suggestion. The fact still remains that we are in one cup final and another cup quarter final.

With the city bracing itself for even tougher Wembley ticket scramble, getting itself tarted out in red and white, and obviously preparing for our first major cup final in 22 years, it’s easy to forget the nitty gritty of the league. Back in the bottom three on goal difference with a game in hand is not a great situation to be in, but it certainly could be worse. Remember when we had 1 point from 7 games? Yeah, so do I. Considering everything, Gus has been a bit of a miracle worker.

After defeat to Hull in league most recently, it was nice to turn on the style in the cup again. A comfortable performance against Southampton and some excellent performances are dissected on this week’s edition of Wise Men Say. We also contemplate the trip to Arsenal. Is it a good thing to play a team of such quality a week before the cup final? Can we get any kind of result? Helping us look at this one was Arseblog’s Andrew Mangan.

Helping us out in the studio was James Hunter from The Evening Chronicle and Chris Weatherspoon from The Roker Report. So join us for an hour of your time. You can listen on Soundcloud or subscribe on iTunes. Enjoy it!
