The buildup is over. Go to https://safc.blog/2014/09/striking-out-for-victory-at-burnley/ if you ant t re-cap; it contains onward links to the prize Guess the Score and the Burnley “Who are You?”.

But last words to Gus Poyet and our own Jake. Jake’s words, loosely his own, are in the caption to his striking image intended to spur the Lads to victory at Turf Moor.

Poyet told the Sunderland Echo: “I think it’s been clear that the character, commitment and the right reaction is there. “We cannot lose that. We need to maintain that.

“Now we need to show the other side of the game; show that we can go ahead and can maintain that or increase it. That’s the challenge now. That’s what we’ve been talking about in the last two or three days when we’ve really been focusing on the Burnley game.”

It could not have been put better. Ha’way the Lads.

“Let’s go there with the attitude of controlling it and going ahead.”
