Moyes on the boys v Manchester United: in mitigation….

Moyes on the boys

John McCormick writes: I wasn’t there and I missed the first 40 minutes on TV so I’m not the best person to offer a comment. That said, I think  we played without heart, and I suspect the sending off made little difference; Man Utd looked like they took their foot off the pedal after the first goal and could have stepped up the pace at any time. David Moyes says much the same, only in a different way:

“It’s very disappointing that we have not taken anything from the game.

Jake: ‘the gloom deepens’

There were some mitigating circumstances for it as well and because of that we lost. I don’t want to shout about that [Seb Larsson’s red card] but things didn’t go for us today.

I don’t think we started the game too well. We stood off Manchester United too much and didn’t get close to them.

Then as the game went on we began to grow into it and we had moments when we looked a bit better, but then we conceded a poor goal and didn’t get tight enough when [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic cut inside and because of that we were left chasing it.

Victor [Anichebe] had an opportunity and on another day it could’ve been a penalty.

Let’s hope we can get some goals from him, it was good for him to get 90 minutes under his belt.”
