Brentford v SAFC: Bees are buzzing after first home win in six months

Jake is back in business. Welcome home, amigo

We know the feeling, the one Brentford had before beating Millwall 1-0 at Griffin Park, and we know it all too well. Sunderland have been waiting 10 months for a home win; they had to wait only six.

Billy Grant, our excellent Brentford “Who are You?” interviewee, has already said he feels the Bees are playing very good football and that someone – no names – is due a “bashing”.

Today he shares with Salut! Sunderland readers the latest instalment of the Pride of West London podcasts he produces.

I have just started listening and it’s engaging stuff (I have not yet reached the bit where he and his pals doubtless discuss how they are going to “bash” Sunderland, so may change my mind later).

But give it hearing, too, and let us know what you make of it.

And come back tomorrow (Friday) for Pete Sixsmith’s brilliant series, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Ground, in which he talks with his customary mixture of history, knowledge and wit about Brentford and their present, soonish to be former, home.

Pete will not be at the game and nor, despite living only a mile from Griffin Park, will Monsieur Salut, who has timed his return from France very badly and does not reach west London until Monday.

But we’ll be strongly and loudly represented. Ha’way the Lads, our Lads. And don’t forget you – and that includes Brentford fans – can still enter Guess the Score by clicking anywhere on this paragraph.
