Salut! Sunderland was part of a group of websites run by Colin Randall, Sunderland fan and journalist.
The site could not be what it is without the sterling efforts of Pete Sixsmith, a regular at Sunderland games home and away, Joan Dawson for her superb stand-in stints in the earlier part of the site’s existence and a series of other supporters who contribute articles from time to time.
Joan’s brother Malcolm was the deputy editor. Born and raised in Hetton-le-Hole. He became information officer and for a time chairman of the Heart of England Branch of the SAFCSA. John McCormick was the associate editor and Jake illustrator-in-chief.
In December 2019 Dean Cruddace acquired Salut! Sunderland and rebranded the site to what you see today as “The SAFC Blog”. With the site due to disappear Dean offered to take over and maintain the archive of all the content created during its 13 year existence. Following on from the content created over the years a new editor in Eve Sayers was brought in to breath new life and SAFC passion and pressgang other writers to contribute towards the site’s new direction.
