Steve Bruce: my ‘fantastic’ Cattermole

Mrs Logic

We won, we’re happy so let Steve Bruce’s words speak for themselves …

Dear Colin,

Today we had injury problems again but fortunately this time we were in a position to do something about it.

We scored three of our four goals without a recognized striker on the pitch.

All credit to the players. They produced a performance when they needed to and it restores a bit of the faith.

The big turning point was getting back into the game straight away following a wonder strike from [Mohammed] Diame.

To be fair I don’t think they’d had a shot on goal before that and then rifle one in the top corner and you think ‘here we go again’.

But there were some very good performances today. My captain [Lee Cattermole] epitomised that today – he was absolutely fantastic.

I’ve been saying for weeks we’ve just had to get a few fit; Lee is one of those players and he was excellent.

I have to say a big thank you to the supporters. They were magnificent and played their part from the first whistle to the last.

There were signs last week at Birmingham but we didn’t get the rub of the green. We played very well there, we played very well today and got the result so I am very, very pleased.

All the best,

Steve Bruce

  1. I’m by no means ready to kiss and make up with SB. Think how good we might have been if we’d had a “recognized striker” on the field but that doesn’t seem to have been a part of his plans for some time now.

  2. After confronting bruce about his training methods, one of safc’s 1st team coaches has been sacked and Sbragia has left the club.

A report was undertaken by the coach to ascertain the reason for all our injuries. Apparently we’ve had over 50 soft tissue injuries in less than 2 years. Bruce was told his training methods are 10 years out of date. When the training pitch was out of use due to bad weather bruce insisted on having training on the beach despite the coaches advice against it. This training session saw 2 players (onouha and i don’t know the other).

These are the reasons sbragia has left us. It also explains why bruce’s teams always seem to have a bad run at the end of the season everywhere he manages. Niall has promised a full inquisition in the summer. Lets hope either bruce can see the error of his ways or he’ll be shown the door.
