Salut! Sunderlands week: stuffing Stoke, cheering up Reidy, facing Norwich

The long break between games made it a quietish week, but there is still plenty to look back on if you missed a daily dose of Salut! Sunderland

It was good to have an upbeat Bruce’s Banter, the e-mail Steve Bruce sends out after each game. Click here to see what he had to say about the 4-0 win against Stoke City. He mentioned some big individual performances but stopped short of naming names.

Then we had some words of solidarity for Peter Reid, sacked by Plymouth despite his many sacrifices there, while also putting the Stoke win in the perspective of wanting it to start a good run.

We had another go at flogging you some mugs, T-shirts, pens, bags and mouse pads.

Pete Sixsmith saw four lots of reserves – that’s two games for those with mental arithmetic problems – and reserved a special welcome for the return of David Meyler from his second heartbreaking injury.

Our Norwich volunteer, Julian Canham chipped in with an outstanding edition of “Who are You?”

And Eric Sweeney came up with one of his occasional Salut! Sunderland contributions, a waspish au revoir, actually more like good riddance, to Asamoah Gyan. See it here.

There was more, all to be found on these pages. Ha’way the Lads.

Monsieur Salut
