The update is that if Heathrow can see its way clear to letting Monsieur Salut’s plane take off, holidays in Sri Lanka beckon. Salut! Sunderland‘s deputy editor, Malcolm Dawson, has already reached exotic parts, Lytham St Annes, and is there for a few days.
There are other Salut! stalwarts in the wings, but it remains to be seen to what extent anything approaching normal service will be maintained. If there are glaring gaps, please accept apologies. Sometimes, even a labour of love can be interrupted by the need for a break – and be assured the holiday pay is the same round figure as the wages.
For now, content yourselves with guessing the scores – if you have done already – in the two games due to take place during my break, Swansea at home next Tuesday amd Reading away on the Saturday after that …
In each case, the first correct score posted as a comment before kickoff wins the buy one/win one Martin O’Neill mug option, namely two mugs for the price of one, £19 free of postage if delivered in the UK. The Wigan game attracted very few entries and no one correctly predicted a 3-2 away win.
So try again for the two games to come next.
I will modify the design if an oppposing fan happens to be the winner.
But feel free to enter for fun even if the mugs do not interest you. You may use this posting for general comments on what’s going on if the site begins to look a bit neglected.
I have “Who are You?” features prepared for both the forthcoming games and John McCormick, Stephen Goldmsith and/or Pete Sixsmith may come up other items to keep things ticking over.
As usual, my decision on winners is final. If a game is called off or abandoned, the competition is simplky cancelled for that fixture.
Ha’way the Lads at home to the high-flying Swans and away at resurgent, Mag-humbling Reading.
Not a winner among all those predictions. Phew.
Sunderland 0 Swans 1
Reading 0 Sunderland 2
2-2 Swansea
0-1 Reading (away win)
Sunderland 1 Swansea 1
Reading 1 Sunderland 2
How long is Rose out for? Colback is doing ok at LB but Rose is better.
I hope Fletch stays fit! Or at least we get another striker in. I like what NDiaye brings but I wonder how he plays with Cattermole? Perhaps Catts will play more defensively and NDiaye told to get forward? Can NDaiye and Catts play together or are they the same sort of player?
Sunderland 2 Swansea 1.
Reading 1 Sunderland 1.
SAFC 2 – 1 Swansea,
Reading 1 – 1 Sunderland
2-0 v Swansea
1-2 V Reading
Home score first as in all good results services.
No one guessed 3-2 to us. Try again for Swansea and Reading
Wigan 0, Swansea 0, Reading 0.
Sunderland 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 (perm any three from 5)
Wigan A 1-1. Swansea H 3-0. Reading A 2-1. Seven points and everything is looking rosy.
Postman has battled through the snaw to deliver my mug from West Ham game. Well worth having so enter NOW!
Sorry but I think Wigan are going to squeak this 2-1
Wigan 1 – 2 Sunderland, Latics lose again to hard fought victory for SAFC because we have to beat the teams around us.
