It’s a pretty humongous week for Sunderland. Wednesday sees us in with a chance of reaching a major final for the first time in 22 years. That’s almost a generation. It certainly feels like it, anyway. We’ve got a real chance to actually do something. A chance to put some hope in many weary red and white hearts.
Under Poyet we’ve been slowly rebuilding. Things can only get better and they certainly are. A win on Saturday against Southampton could see us leap into 15th position in the Premier League. As sad as it might sound, we could only dream of such a league placing whilst under the ‘stewardship’ of Paolo Di Canio. A draw wouldn’t be such a bad result at the weekend, though. But a win would certainly lift spirits going into yet another massive midweek fixture.
It’s nice to do positive podcasts and the most recent incarnation certainly is that. We were joined in the studio by BBC Radio Newcastle’s Sunderland Commentator, Nick Barnes. We also were joined by our first SportsByte panellist in the form of Sam Lightle. It was a decent debut for a young lad, who is also a canny writer. His name may be familiar to you if you’re a regular reader of A Love Supreme. We get some Southampton info from long standing pod contributor, Ben Stansfield. He does a bit of writing for TeamTalk and is our go to guy for any Saints related questioning.
So sit back, try and relax as well as you possibly can considering the enormity of Wednesday and enjoy! You can stream or download the podcast from Soundcloud or Subscribe on iTunes!
