One set of fans may, at different stages of the match and especially at the end unless it’s a draw, taunt the other one with ringing chants of “Down with the Chelsea, you’re going down with the Chelsea”.

Not that rival Londoners or upstarts in the North East would stoop to such meanness. We must all learn to love Jose Mourninho and pray that his underachieving team can begin to climb away from the bottom.

But please let it be Sunderland supporters who have to rise above the temptation to be unkind about Chelsea.

  1. Give us a win today (oh, please!) and I’d be almost prepared to let the Mags take the points from West Ham tomorrow, just for the pleasure of seeing Chelsea in the bottom three.
