SAFC v Newcastle United: (3) Guess the Score. Six in a row?

Cometh the hour, cometh the number. That number is six, Newcastle United’s tally in the demolition of Norwich City (after some shaky moments) on Sunday and also – if only Sunderland can bring the Mags crashing back to earth – how many times we would then have beaten them on the trot.

Not many people are counting their chickens and seeing six-in-a-row as any kind of foregone conclusion.

We are winless, they are no longer. We are decidedly not getting the breaks; the Mags appear to have had their share against Norwich before their attackers, and especially Georginio Wijnaldum, put the Canaries to the sword. But there is no reason to despair; the formbook is often secondary to what happens on the day in Wear-Tyne and Tyne-Wear derbies and we must start winning sooner or later.

So what will be the score? This is your chance to guess in the knowledge that if you are the first to post the correct scoreline, before kickoff, you will win the prize provided by our sponsors, Personalised Football Gifts.

No one predicted a 1-0 defeat at WBA so it would normally be a rollover. I am hoping to persuade the sponsors to take account of it being the first of this season’s big NE derbies and award the winner the framed picture version of the mug we usually offer. Since a rollover mans two mugs, the price differential is only 9p so here’s hoping.

It comes in both SAFC and NUFC colours and you choose the name to add to the No 12 shirt. It is open to opposing supporters to have a go and if, for any reason, the prints are not available as prizes, there will be a pair of the classic mug for the winner.

The prize must go to a UK postal address and Monsieur Salut’s decision shall, as ever, be final.
