John McCormick writes:
For the second season running a move to Monday night scuppered this as a London trip. Would that I had been there. At the start I thought our line-up was a bit iffy; half way through the first half I thought Palace were the better team (but still not that good). But by half time I was thinking “Sam’s got a plan and the team has a structure”. And then we got that goal and I thought, “we might do it.”

And we did.

Pete Sixsmith also missed the game. Here’s what he might have sent had he been there:

Nov 23 2015 *Crystal Palace (0) 0 Sunderland (0) 1: Winning ugly but winning. Sam’s the Man*

  1. Kept a clean sheet, broke the green hoodoo, got three well deserved points, showed team spirit and tenacity. Passing was poor but we tackled upright most of the time especially Coates who is the best tackler I’ve seen since Dave Watson. Hard fixtures ahead but we are improving and have devised a plan and a structure to attain points. Sam was a good appointment and hopefully keeps us up and can build and develop next season.

  2. I am as amazed as anyone that we got 3 points tonight, Away to a London team, and we won,

What I liked was that the defensive part of the team obviously had been trained to tighten up. I also liked that a minor Prem Team like Sunderland were play a 3 man defence with wing backs that a Major team like Man Utd have failed with.

We have 3 hard games coming up, similar to this (bar the Arsenal Away fixture), can I cheat and predict 0 – 0 for that one? I do work with an Arse. Oops Arsenal fan.

Well done in this game, I thought we would lose.
