There’s only one Bradley Lowery. Here’s how Sunderland fans can help

Anyone who watched
the otherwise one-to-forget Everton match on the TV, and plenty of those inside the stadium, will have had their hearts warmed by the sight of little Bradley Lowery, the SAFC mascot for the game.

Bradley is fighting a form of cancer called neuroblastoma and needs costly treatment in the USA. A good piece about the way sporting and other personalities, from Jordan Henderson to Katie Price, who have rallied to the cause appears at the Sunderland Echo site, this link

Jermain Defoe and Bradley led the Lads out before kickoff and the players of both sides treated him like a prince. “There’s only one Bradley Lowery,” the fans chanted on five minutes for the battling five-year-old. Everton FC have donated £200,000, the sort of gesture that restores faith in top flight football.

There is an option to donate at Or you can send an SMS – Brad02 £1 – to 70070, adding a token pound to a fund that needs to raise £700,000 and very possibly more to cover not only the immunotherapy treatment, flights, accommodation and any additional treatment he may need while in the United States.

Sadly, there is no plain sailing in Bradley’s search for recovery.

A recent message on the Bradley Lowery’s Fight against Neuroblastoma Facebook page read: “Bradley’s temperature spiked last night and he’s had to be blue lighted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The wonderful doctors and nurses will hopefully work their magic.”

Help if you can. I will.

And now Michael Ganley, creator of the Sunderland AFC Fans Museum, draws attention to the event you see above, with Kevin Ball as guest speaker and our own, as he once was, Stephen Goldsmith as compere.

The museum is the organiser, the place is Easington Social Welfare Centre, the date Oct 8. Doors open at 4.30pm, not least because there is a screening of England v Malta (there’s always a down side) at 5pm.

Michael says: “If you haven’t been to any event for young Bradley Lowery yet, then why not get to this one. It’ll be a great night and I’m sure you will love it, tickets still available so please get in touch.”

Get in touch with Mark on 07979 100048 or Stephen on 07736 277240.

Ha’way the brave young Lad.
