So we are on a run of four successive defeats. The alarm bells are not so much ringing as cracking into many pieces due to the sheer volume of their sound.
And Hull? Hammered at Derby, beaten in midweek at Fulham, their own dip in form undoing the relatively good work of earlier in what is still early in the season. When I set the Who are You? questions to Hull City fan and author Gary Clark – stand by for answers stretching to War and Peace length – the Tigers were just behind the top six. Now they’re 16th, just four places above us.
Who indeed can bounce back?
I sense no great optimism on the part of my editorial colleagues at Salut! Sunderland and precious little among the fans. Yet experience tells me those entering another prize Guess the Score will keep the faith, blind as it may be.
Have a go. There’s a mug waiting for the winner, ie the reader who is first to post the correct score, pre-kickoff of course.
As an innovation, I think it is time to start including an entry from eac game’s Who are you? interviewee. They don’t always remember to predict the outcome but Gary, while otherwise downbeat on the state of football generally, sees nothing other than a Hull win: 2-1.
Other Hull fans are warmly welcome to join in what passes for fun around these parts but the winner must have a UK delivery address and the patience of Job since there is a backlog that still haven’t been able to clear.
I will try to get that done within the next few days, probably early next week.
And Haway the Lads…
The eternal optimist again noway man 14 shots on Tues Eve I’ve said all along someone is in for a lasting we seem to relax more away from home 4-0 to the lads
The Lads to win 3-2 and hope returns.
2-0 to Hull I’m afraid.
2-4
Vaughan hat-trick, with one of them like the goal he scored against the mats.
It is the same Vaughan, isn’t it? You know, the one who is not a striker.
Anyone that scores against us will win. Hull will score 1, us our customary 0.
1-3 to the lads
Via salutsunderland: Gary Clark, our Hull Who are you? interviewee, reckons Hull City 2-1 SAFC. In accordance with my new rule (see above), that is now an official entry
1 clean sheet, 2 goals, 3 points, Hull 0 SAFC 2
So confident in this scoreline I’ve just put £250 on it:
Hull 4 SAFC 9
Hopefully………SAFC1 Hull C 0
“Who can bounce back?” Or who is least bad?
Sunderland 2 Hull 1
Still optimistic. I’m not sure why.
1-1
looks like we have a winner!
