Pete Sixmsith is back on duty after a midweek break, during which time he put together his thoughts about his visits to Ipswich.
They will be with us shortly, but first we have his match report to come and, by way of a warm-up, his instant seven word verdict, sent from the Stadium of Light before the echoes of the final whistle, and perhaps some boos as well, have faded into the night.
September 23 Sunderland 1 (0) Cardiff City 2 (1) Undoubtedly the worst Sunderland team I’ve watched
September 20 League Cup 3rd Round: Everton (1) 3 Sunderland (0) 0 * Never looked like scoring, let alone winning
September 16 Hull City 1 (0) Sunderland 1 (1) Hung on but not a sparkling performance
September 16 Hull City 1 (0) Sunderland 1 (1) Hung on but not a sparkling performance
September 12 Sunderland 0 (0) Nottingham Forest 1 (o) Some improvement but we lack any punch
September 9 Sunderland 1 (0) Sheffield United 2 (1) no tactics, appalling team selection,
total embarrassment
August 26 Barnsley 3 (2) Sunderland 0 (0) Alarm bells clanging after a dreadful performance
August 22 League Cup: Carlisle United (0) 1 Sunderland (1) 2 Classy finish by Gooch masks scrappy performance
August 19 SAFC 0 (0) Leeds United 2 (1) Weaknesses exposed by a solid Leeds team
August 16 Sheffield Wednesday (0) 1 Sunderland (1) 1 Looked tired in second half. Decent point
August 13 Norwich City 1 (0) Sunderland 3 (1) Very well organised and three cracking goals
August 8 League Cup: Bury 0 (0) Sunderland (0) 1 Hardly convincing but a win’s a win
August 4 2017 Sunderland (1) 1 Derby County (1) 1 Encouraging second half. Something to build on
What possessed him to go 5 at the back? Utter shambles till we went 442. We were then the better team despite having a central at right back, right back at left back and left back in midfield. Imagine if we had 11 in position? Then much the worse side after we scored .
Some mitigating factors with illness and injury and a ref who oddly decided that what their centre backs had been doing to Vaughan all game wasn’t allowed inside the box. I thought premier league refs were bad but this lot are far worse.
Do they get better in league 1?
We’ll be the ‘big name’ in league one and will need knocking down a peg or two , the refs will be worse .
Division 1 here we come without doubt.
‘Of’, not ‘off’ – apologies!
We keep hoping that we have reached the bottom off the pit. Not yet it would seem.
The only thing that can save us on the pitch is youth
Has Larry shut that door yet? Bain should go too, specialist in administration!
Pete, we, all Sunderland sufferers, have the feeling that
worse is still to come.
