No need for much more to be said than that Stewart Donald is now on the brink of completing the takeover of Sunderland AFC from the hapless Ellis Short. The EFL seems ready to confirm the change of ownership.

Following a meeting with the EFL on Friday, and the provision of further information, we can now confirm that the proposed sale of the club could be concluded as early as next week.
We would like to place on record our thanks to the EFL for their assistance during the process, at what is a very busy time of the football calendar for them.

As for the managerial appointment, it would now seem Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder was interested mainly in securing a better deal from his present club. Monsieur Salut’s understanding just over a week ago was that he was the favourite, thought Stewart’s team were well aware that his interest might be strategic, with Leicester’s assistant manager Michael Appleton and Blackpool’s Gary Bowyer also in contention.
There have been plenty of other suggestions: Alex Rae, Big Sam, SuperKev, John O’Shea, Mick McCarthy … and M Salut’s personal dream, Arsène Wenger. Who can possibly say?

Whilst I’m pleased that a takeover is happening ,the romantic in me was hoping that the local consortium with Quinny’s input would have won the day .Never mind , huge respect to Mr Donald and his team for taking this job on and I’m 100% behind them . My worries are ,how much finances are available and if this takeover has Mr Short’s approval, going by his past judgement, I’m a little concerned. The huge news is that apparently the club is now restructured to be debt free at the present. This gives hope for further investment from other parties or even another takeover somewhere down the line if Madrox have taken the club as far as they can . Obviously the first step is to stop the rot and get this club promoted . Good luck Mr Donald, we’re all behind you .
..Wenger would be good,but no chance,,,I’d like big Sam,but doubt he’d drop down the divisions,but he likes money $$$$$ so never say never.Phillips and Rea,sounds good,but too early to take a chance I think,,,but maybe they might just do the job,
