Salut! Sunderland’s Week: rain, shrimps, Sess and Swansea

Jake's way of looking back on a Salut! week

Stop Press: a warm welcome to the last of Martin O’Neill’s pre-deadline signings, Danny Rose on a season-long loan from Spurs …

The easiest way to review the week gone by, as seen by Salut! Sunderland, is to follow the instruction that follows …

Go to the home page and navigate: https://safc.blog

Once there, you will see a line-up of recent articles. It has been a busy week in many ways and the choice of reading to be found reflects this.

For many of us, the great news that Martin O’Neill had bought such quality as Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson was eclipsed by Thursday’s initially low-key club announcement that Stéphane Sessegnon had signed an extension to his contract to 2015. It does not mean he will be with us for the whole of that period but it does imply he is as excited as us by developments under MON and wants to help Sunderland enjoy a superb season.

So once at the home page, choose what you wish to read in full. Here’s some idea of what is there …

* Sess stays. Knighthood for Martin O’Neill? Also, the view of our Voice of America columnist Robert Simmons: “Sessegnon’s re-signing signals to me that the team is behind what O’Neill is building here and they want to stay and be a part of it.”

* Sixer on his visit to Wembley to watch the Rugby League Challenge CUp final when he could have been wading through the Stadium of Light waters. He was back from London well in time to catch the Capital One Cup victory over Morecambe.

* Peter Thomas’s excellent answers, as a Swansea fan, to our “Who are You?” questionnaire – followed by his detailed match preview.

* A look at what awaits Joey Barton in Marseille. English football’s baddest boy in France’s meanest city – while he was there for his medical, the major of two districts appealed in vain to the government to send in the army afer the latest score-settling at gunpoint.

* Goldy’s Predictions league

And much, much more from Salut!’s team of writers.

Plenty has been happening all over football. Getting through to the 3rd round of the league cup was important for us and brought us strong hope of further progress, the draw taking us to MK Dpns.

The transfer window closed after the usual series of late twists.

Enjoy your closer look at the site. And remember that this is also a suitable place to come to if there are delays in posting Sixer’s Sevens and Martin’s Musings from Swansea and you want to discuss what happens at today’s match …
