Sixer’s Sevens: Arsenal 0 Sunderland 0

pete2

Starting at the Emirates, where our dreadful losing run ended with a battling draw, Pete Sixsmith presents his incisive seven-word verdicts on just about every Sunderland game. When, rarely, Pete is absent, a supersub does it for him. Today, Arsenal should have had a penalty (which would have meant a Bramble red card) but a fabulous Sessegnon-Welbeck move almost produced an unexpected away win. Come back over the next few days to read an awful lot more about all that.
The full Sixer’s Sevens archive – see link below – encapsulates the matchday experiences, from darkest gloom to sublime elation, of a fan who is usually there …

  1. Lucky to get the draw with the penalty they should have had and the goal wrongly flagged for offside. But having said that it’s nice to see the ref go against the big boys.

Too often the likes of Arsenal (last week first min of cup final), Liverpool (Carragher’s tackle yesterday) and Man Utd and Chelsea get away with far too much.

Lost count of how many dodgy decisions have robbed us against those sides over the years. Dodgy red cards and soft penalties at Liverpool, three offside goals in a row allowed at Chelsea and so on.

Would be nice to see off Pool in our next home game which is in about 90 weeks by the looks of the fixture list!

One more game in the rest of March and it is still only the 7th. What a joke.

  2. All comments, within reason, are welcome – from non-SAFC as well as Sunderland fans – but expect a short delay for moderation if it’s your first time. Anti-spam measures make that unavoidable – and bear with us: it’s Saturday night, there’s a good performance to celebrate and there’s only one permanent moderator.
