SAFC v Norwich City: keep spirits high as you Guess the Score

As promised, Salut! Sunderland is on an upbeat track. There is a time for carping and seriously critical analysis but that time is in the days immediately following some disappointment on the field.

Plenty of such material was published here and that is how it should be.

But now, an absolutely vital match of the sort we get around this time of the year most seasons is looming. “Must-win” is another contender for football phrases that ought to be banned, since failure to live up to the instruction does not always mean the end of the world, even our small world as Premier League participants.

So let us just say that three points against Norwich City would be mightily useful, not least with regard to the rather difficult programme that follows – Chelase (a), Man Utd (h), Newcastle (a) and our old friends Everton at home. Even Aston Villa (a) after all that is hardly one to take lightly.

And the Lads, whichever Lads Martin O’Neill picks, have our 100 per cent support as they take the field on Sunday afternoon.

Have a go at guessing the score. Be ruled by head or heart as you wish and be aware that if your entry is the first correct one to be posted, it will win you a MoN mug, suitably modified if you happen to support Norwich. Do not worry if your entry does not immediately appear, and someone else comes along later to offer the same scoreline. I will know when any prediction, even if held for moderation, arrives.
