When it gets to the final, we’ll have a special Guess the Score with as good a prize as Salut! Sunderland can cadge from someone.
For the dress rehearsal at the Etihad, it’s back to reward-in-heaven mode. Have a go, but just for fun. Anyone who is waiting for a mug won or promised in the recent past is asked to be patient; they’ll be on the way soon.
Pete Sixsmith was talking to a pal and said: “Tell me honestly, would you rather we won on Wednesday night and lost at Wembley – or the other way round?”
The friend thought for a few seconds, maybe more, before replying: “Three points on Wednesday please.”
Of course, such things are not in Sixer’s gift. No pundit who wishes to remain employed would guess at other than defeats for Sunderland in both games. But who knows? We have a good record against City, mainly at home but also including that superb 3-3 draw, the only point taken from them at the Etihad in their title-winning season.
Mark Barber, our “Who are You?” interviewee, reckons we’ll score first, through Adam Johnson. If you want to know how often he thinks they’ll reply, you’ll need to check out the Q+A at https://safc.blog/2014/02/manchester-city-v-sunderland-who-are-you-come-back-niall-and-reidy/
Ha’way the3 Lads. Prove him very wrong.

Man City 3 – 3 SAFC
Same as last time, I would certainly take it right now as any reward from this clash is a bonus.
Oh to hell with it William!
Man City 0 Sunderland 8
(Altidore 7 and Mannone with a late penalty for the lads)
Ha’way lads …. being optimistic I’ll go for …… 1-1
However, if we got hammered, say 5-0, would that make City complacent and give us a chance in the cup final? If so, would you take it? We’d probably forget another relegation (and immediate return to the Premier League – I’ve lost count) but a cup win would always live in the memory.
PS – just realised that most people on here, and especially Pete Sixsmith, can remember where they parked when visiting Blackburn away in 1988 and what flavour of pie they had, so remembering relegations and promotions is child’s play. However, you get my drift …
Man City 0 Sunderland 7
(Altidore with all 7)
Jeremy
Why so cautious?
The tribunal will later rule they were all own goals and, confidence wrecked, he won’t score again all season
What;s in them fags?
sneaky 2-1 win to the lads
1-1, we’ll let them claim a point but the cups ours!
1-0 to SAFC. What else?
