Sunderland v Middlesbrough ‘Guess the Score’: a time for winning

It has been an eventful week.

Much better than expected display at the Etihad, ruined by an unfortunate own goal, egg on Monsieur Salut’s face after he fell for an online reference to Graham Gooch being Lynden’s dad, insolent follow-up comment from Sixer and Malcolm Dawson and now speculation that Watford want and may land Younes Kaboul. Not to mention our former web guru Sam’s belated success in getting rid of that awful error message that had polluted Salut! Sunderland‘s landing pages for a long, long time.

Perhaps we should stop worrying about it all, declare young Hayley Penman the clear winner of our little exercise in re-allocating the mug won by Jennifer Lowery on Nevis Island and proclaim faith in David Moyes.

And now? Guess the Score returns to the SoL and Sunday’s first home game, versus Boro.

I have to admit to many Boro connections – sister has lived there for most of her life and has brought up an entire extended tribe of Smoggies. I suspect she is, at heart, a Mackem as befits anyone from almost anywhere in County Durham but there we are.

We all know how much we and Moyes need a win. Why not just forget the possible break-up of the best centre-back formation we can remember and hope for the best?

Just for fun this time so no need to recount the rules that apply when a prize is at stake. But Boro fans are very welcome to take part and comment …

Ha’way the Lads ..

  1. With a considered departure from my 3-2 mug winning prediction, I will go for an unwanted 2-2 draw.

  2. Even Sunderland to Middlesboring is a long distance when you have been walloped 3 to nil. That’s my prediction.

  3. As there’s no mug this week I’ll get in first with a 7-1 home win – Vito scoring an own goal when after a brilliant save the ball ricochets off the post and into the net via his head.
