Sixer’s Sevens: West Ham 1-0 Sunderland. When are offside players interfering?

Monsieur Salut writes: I had another good stream, poor Pete Sixsmith was there as usual. We came back from an abysmal start, had the best chance of the game Khazri) and then lost in the dying seconds. Reid’s shot was from a long way out but two West Ham players were standing in offside positions ahead of Jordan Pickford. Interfering? Looked like it in one case. Nitpicking? Maybe – and I certainly think referee Bobby Madley had an outstanding game. Another defeat but, like Sixer, whose customary seven-word verdict you see below, I feel we deserved a point …

  1. I went to see Durham City v Esh Winning and the officials allowed both teams to wear yellow socks. Refs eh?

    • At last a reason to be cheerful…

      Seeing Piccadilly,
      Fanny Smith and Willy,
      Being rather silly,
      And porridge oats
A bit of grin and bear it,
A bit of come and share it
You’re welcome we can spare it
      YELLOW SOCKS!

    • I couldn’t get Barnes and Benno to play on my laptop and could only find the Mags’ commentary on the BBC Radio Newcastle site but then located a perfect internet stream that saved me from listening on Talksport

      • On my way up to Consett, where Durham are currently playing their home games, the BBC said that there were problems broadcasting for all radio stations at the Olympic Stadium. Barnes and Benno came on about 2.45pm.

  2. Thought Madley had an excellent game. If there should have been an offside call for the goal, it was surely the linesman’s

    • Agree on that , I’ve only got radio commentary to go on and the consensus is that the linesman got it wrong .

  3. Now we’ve got rank bad officiating to see us off ,on the rare occasion that we put a decent performance in . It seems the gods of football are finally calling in their dept after years of letting us get away with it . Stan Collymore openly calling for Moyes to go and Sam to return on 606 . Very unusual for an independent commentator to say that ,I’m not sure what to make of it to be honest .
