Sixer’s Sevens: SAFC 0 Leeds United 2 – early season promise arrested by the boys in blue

Jake: ‘it won’t always be pretty’

We’ve seen it before of course. A great chance to take the lead is cleared off the line and almost immediately a counter attack puts us behind. It has to be said Leeds got back into the game and looked the more assured for much of this match.

Pete Sixsmith was there and as he always does sends us his seven word verdict as soon as the referee blows the final whistle.

August 19 SAFC 0 (0) Leeds United 2 (1) Weaknesses exposed by a solid Leeds team

August 16 Sheffield Wednesday (0) 1 Sunderland (1) 1 Looked tired in second half. Decent point

August 13 Norwich City 1 (0) Sunderland 3 (1) Very well organised and three cracking goals

August 8 Bury 0 (0) Sunderland (0) 1 Hardly convincing but a win’s a win

August 4 2017 Sunderland (1) 1 Derby County (1) 1 Encouraging second half. Something to build on

  1. Getting to the point where I don’t want to be associated with our home support. Best away support bar none. Worst home support. Yesterday great up until 2nd goal and from there absolutely disgraceful. As far as I’m concerned the hordes who streamed out when the second goal went in can do one and never come back. I would rather have 20,000 supporters than an extra 10,000 tourists. This is a different team to last season and deserves support, not a clear statement that they have no chance.
As for the idiots that booed on the final whistle they are just clueless morons.
Regarding the team, I am please with what Grayson has done so far but I think we are going to pay for his stubborness. Steele is not good enough. A good keeper would have saved Wednesday’s goal more often than not (hit middle of the goal) and same for yesterday’s first and he saved neither of them. Galloway is simply not up to it. He has been a liability in all 4 games and should never have come back out for the second half, particularly having been carded.
Also very disappointed by Grabban’s lack of courage after Vaughan went off.
    Kone and ndong were superb.

  2. We were finished in the 2nd 1/2 against Wednesday and after 10 mins against Leeds . Galloway is not up to the job yet and will cost us a lot of goals if this problem is not addressed . Watmore and Oveido can’t return quickly enough.

  3. I’m not surprised, not yet concerned. It’s a message to our beloved leader.
If he pays no heed then perhaps there’ll be cause for concern.
    The message is:

Strengthen the squad, Ellis. If we can’t match Leeds what can we do?

It’s your ownership but it is, and always will be, our club.
