So straight over to the Salut! Sunderland jury. Does the fight to scramble away from the bottom of the Championship start with a good result at Cardiff or is our plight about to get even worse?
With third top vs bottom of the league (and bottom for a reason), the logic is in favour of a routine home win. But who knows? The addition of a central defender who is comfortable on the ball is not only reassuring. It’s something of a novelty.
I hope JCS gets plenty of game time, he deserves the break.

I admire the optimism ahead of each game, however dressed up in gallows humour. That is natural: we want our team to do well, we want the players we have and the manager we have to show they are up to the task.
Pete Sixsmith’s reports are always beautifully constructed but how he would welcome a chance to learn possibly new skills, writing in an upbeat manner on a consistent basis, not just every seventh game or so.
So Guess the Score, even if you don’t much like sentences that start with “So”.
Can we do it? Can we go two points better than a draw? If not, can we at least come home with a point?
Usual rules. A book or mug awaits the winner and Cardiff supporters are more than welcome to enter.

Close but no cigar – exciting 2-2 draw
For some reason my submission of yesterday did not register. Amazingly, no-one has taken my chosen score in the meantime, phew! 4-3 to The Lads.
0-0 would be a good result.
Cardiff 2 – 3 Sunderland, a vivid and lively imagination needed for this prediction/ premonition, pass more of those mushrooms!!!!!!!
The eternal optimist was going for 2-0 to the lads but I will go the extra mile and say 3-0 and John Mac gone for the original
0-2.

Another away win with a 1-0 scoreline.
I’ve only been once this season (“shame on you”, I hear you shout). Mitigating circumstances are that I’m now financially reliant on my pensions now that I’ve retired and my dedicated chauffeur (aka son) naffed off to Australia to get away from the heartache. I was tempted to go to Cardiff but British Rail required 2 of my limbs to transport me. Anway, my only game was Norwich away. 3 – 1 victory and a mug winning score to boot. So same again please. 3 – 1 to me bonny lads.
I’ve only been to one game this season as well.
I live in Mexico and was in Sunderland for the Reading game. My Mexican wife went too – her first time see the lads. She was frozen stiff, despite having loads of layers plus a blanket.
We have season tickets here for Pumas, who play in the 1968 Olympic stadium. You can still get sunburned in winter, at the matches.
Probably cheaper to get to Cardiff from Mexico than it is from here. British Rail prices are unbelievable for a day trip.
