Sixer’s sevens. Sunderland 0 Barnsley 1. Get your wallet out, Ellis

Jake: ‘it’s not always pretty’

John McCormick writes: with about ten minutes to go I was just about to write a headline in when Pete Sixsmith sent a seven-word text. Did it make me change what I was going to put? Not at all.

You can read what Pete wrote below and I bet you agree with both him and myself.

  1. Just awful ,could have be 3-0.
We make poor teams look like Chelsea ,giving them far too much room to pass comfortably,we sit deep and invite teams on .It was the same against Birmingham too.
Poor teams can’t believe how much room we give them to play.
Coleman needs to get us at teams and close them down much quicker.

  2. I think it’s a sign of just how desperate things are that for a while now supporters have been pinning their hopes on young lads who can produce at U21 level and expect them to step up like Wayne Rooney. Even Harry Kane was allowed to develop on loan before he started doing the business for Spurs. We had it with Wickham, Watmore and now Maja.

Can’t see Short putting much more into the club so if we don’t offload Kone, Rodwell, Ndong and the other high earners who are permanently “injured” I can’t see Coleman having much to play with.

How long before he becomes the next manager who the fans turn against?

  3. Awful. Number of players I would be happy to never see again
Mcgeady never seen anyone dither as much in possesion and just keeps losing the ball
Vaughan – can’t fault his effort but he has no quality at all.
Honeyman – sadly just not good enough. Constantly lost the ball including for the goal.

Also, if anyone thought Maja was the answer then that was shown up today. Needs months and months of coaching from someone like Kevin Phillips because he just doesn’t anticipate anything.
