Pete Sixsmith wasn’t there tonight, having chosen to watch Durham City play Ryhope CW and leave the Sunderland game to Bob Chapman, but he did forward Bob’s half time message, which was to the effect that we had hardly been in the game and Birmingham deserved their lead.
There was a second message at full time. We’ve come to expect seven words; unfortunately, we’ve also come to expect what they say:
30 January 2018 Birmingham City 3 (2) Sunderland 1 (0) *worked hard but just not good enough
20 Januaury 2018 Sunderland 1 (1) Hull City 0 (0) Young players give us hope. O’Shea magnificent

August 8 League Cup: Bury 0 (0) Sunderland (0) 1 Hardly convincing but a win’s a win
August 4 2017 Sunderland (1) 1 Derby County (1) 1 Encouraging second half. Something to build on
Keeping an eye on Jim on SSNews. Even players I’ve never heard of (Oliver McBurnie anyone?) don’t want to sign for us.
I have no faith or hope any longer. For the first time ever I will be journeying to Sunderland shortly and not attending the match. A walk along the beach at Seaburn or (god forbid) a wander through the Bridges will be preferable.
Five things we’ve learnt in the last 24 hours!
1. Short – he has definitely disappeared over the hills and far away……that’s all there is going to be from him….no more money, interest or acumen.
2. Cash strapped – right now CC must be thinking what has he got himself into.
3. Bain – disastrous transfer window…..no cash, can’t off-load the dead wood which is the equivalent of an Alpine forest, players on ridiculous contracts
4. Sins of the Father…….yep our past digressions’ are coming home to roost and its an ill wind that blows up yer kilt etc…mixed metaphors aside miss-management on a massive scale will undoubtedly sink us this time.
5. Same on the pitch weaknesses that we will not cure this transfer window (see above)…not a good outlook.
Pete added a couple of sevens of his own when passing on Bob’s messages:
At half time:
As always, Sunderland let you down badly
At full time
Sunderland – guaranteed to mess things up spectacularly
