This is really your last chance to vote – or update your vote based on later developments or your assessment of the new regime – in the Salut! Sunderland “gut feeling” poll (above). It closes in about one hour from the moment I post this item.
News on possible new signings is developing fast. Check out https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc, where you can expect to see what they know at the Echo and what they think worthy of being repeated from elsewhere.
We’ve reached 750+ votes and there is an overwhelming majority expressing a belief in automatic promotion – 81 per cent in total, marginally more than half feeling we’ll do it as champions.
The final count will be recorded in some way, perhaps as part of another article. And you can now concentrate on the more comprehensive successor poll – who among League One sides will go up (below)?

Great to hear positive comments again he last 2 seasons were dire. If only Sam could have remained at the club. Moyes was a disaster and has been found out. Coleman I feel was not supported and had little chance of success but i do believe the team we had should have done much better. We don’t get much Championship football in SA and no league 1 so I will have to find out what went on from those who watched it and I can trust, keep up the good work
Found last season too difficult to watch and was thoroughly disgusted after the Portman Rd match. I haven’t been on these pages for a while hope I’m still welcome
Of course you are, Keith. If you had one question to put to the new owner, what would it be?
Keith I know how you feel. I decided not to spend anymore dosh on going to games as long as Short controlled the purse strings. I’m looking forward to the new era. Hopefully the fans will accept the reality and realise that they will need to be patient while the club rebuilds from the ground up. I’m actually hoping all the big money signings who have let us down are shipped out and replaced with honest, hard working players and young lads who see playing for the club as a privilege, not as a cheap meal ticket and play with pride and passion.
