The First Time Ever I Saw Your Ground: Accrington Stanley revisited

Malcolm Dawson writes…….back on a wet weekend in December, Rob Hutchison, his daughter Olivia, Associate Editor John McCormick and myself found ourselves sheltering from the downpour in the Peel Park Hotel, constantly checking that the game was still on, such was the intensity of the deluge. Though he was still decked out in red and white, ace reporter Pete Sixsmith wasn’t there in the run up to Christmas, and so missed the eventually fruitless soaking which the rest of us suffered.

He had however provided us with his contribution for his excellent series The First Time Ever I Saw Your Ground in which he shared his memories of Peel Park and The Wham. As I write he is heading over the snow capped Pennines for the rearranged fixture which we really need to see come to a conclusion this evening, so if you missed it first time round or just want to revisit his original article this link will take you there.

TFTEISYG – STANLEY

Since Peter wrote the piece we have of course drawn with Stanley at the Stadium of Light.
