Something went wrong. Not just us winning and keeping the Wembley dream alive. Pete Sixsmith‘s texts from the SoL dried up before Sunderland scored – at half time he declared the game ‘as dull as it sounds’ – and Monsieur Salut, listening to Barnes and Benno and watching an internet stream that was sometimes ahead of the radio commentary, took to texting Sixer, doubtless dozing in the East Stand. Not a great game, but Bardsley’s sheer persistence grabbed goal one, Larsson finished classily from a splendid Altidore pass for goal two and we could afford for once to ill-defend a set piece to allow the Saints their consolation. Bring on Chelsea …

The point was better than the performance

August 17 2013 SAFC (0) 0 Fulham (0) 1 Ultimately little difference from previous two seasons

  1. Jake said “Normally we don’t get past Scotch Corner on the road to Wembley but maybe, just maybe…”

That didn’t used to worry me too much when we lived in Richmond.

  2. Wembley dream……………. steady on lads.

Quarter finals…………………..We are at the Wetherby Whaler at least.

Prefer “The Frying Pan” on the other side of the town myself.

We might be hoping we were just in the fire when we have to face Chelsea next round though.
